नेपाल सम्वत् ११४५ चिल्लागाः १५ (१६ चैत्र, २०८१) मार्च २९, २०२५ ,शनिबार, बाँपीझ्याला ।The death toll from the powerful 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Myanmar has risen to over 1,000 as rescue workers continue to pull bodies from the rubble of collapsed buildings. The military-led government reported 1,002 deaths, 2,376 injuries, and 30 people still missing, warning that the numbers could increase further. The devastating quake struck near Mandalay on Friday, followed by strong aftershocks, causing extensive destruction, including buckled roads, collapsed bridges, and a burst dam. Myanmar’s ongoing civil war has made relief efforts difficult, raising fears that the casualty count could rise significantly.
The earthquake also caused widespread destruction in neighboring Thailand, where Bangkok authorities confirmed six deaths, 26 injuries, and 47 missing persons, mostly from a construction site near Chatuchak Market. A 33-story high-rise under construction by a Chinese firm collapsed during the quake, trapping workers under the debris. Rescuers continued searching for survivors, but families of the missing expressed growing despair. Tearful relatives gathered at the site, praying for their loved ones, while others recounted their last conversations before the disaster struck.

Myanmar’s government has called for urgent blood donations in the hardest-hit areas and stated it is willing to accept foreign aid. China has already sent a 37-member rescue team equipped with drones and earthquake detectors, while Russia dispatched two planes with 120 rescuers and supplies. India and Malaysia are also sending teams to provide medical assistance and relief. The United Nations allocated $5 million for immediate aid, while U.S. President Donald Trump pledged American support, though concerns remain over his administration’s deep cuts to foreign aid programs.
With thousands still missing and many trapped under debris, the international community is mobilizing resources to assist in rescue operations. However, ongoing conflict in Myanmar and logistical challenges pose significant hurdles to relief efforts. As aftershocks continue, authorities are warning of further risks and urging people in affected areas to remain cautious.
