PM Oli urges Nepali youths living abroad to return home for employment creation

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, addressing the World Leaders Forum at Columbia University during the 79th UN General Assembly in New York, urged Nepali youths living abroad to return home and contribute to nation-building by creating employment opportunities. He emphasized Nepal's national aspiration of "Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepali," which aims to eradicate poverty and ensure that all citizens can live with dignity.

In his keynote speech on "Nepal's Journey of Democracy and Economic Development," Oli stressed the importance of youth in the country’s transformation, acknowledging the lack of data on returnees despite significant numbers of youths and students moving abroad. He highlighted the government's efforts to provide opportunities through small-scale industries and startup programs, encouraging Nepali youth to contribute to the nation's economic growth.

Oli expressed optimism about Nepal's potential for prosperity, noting its strategic location between economic powerhouses India and China, which positions it well for multi-dimensional economic development. He reiterated his government's commitment to good governance, transparency, and the broader goal of making Nepalis prosperous and happy.

Additionally, during the "Lead Free Future: Partnership Launch and Pledging Event" organized by USAID and UNICEF, Oli expressed Nepal's commitment to reducing lead usage due to its harmful effects on children's health. He mentioned that Nepal has implemented policies to eliminate lead from usage and introduced a related bill on food security in Parliament. First Lady Jill Biden, along with the presidents of Dominica and Malawi, also participated in the lead-free event, showcasing global efforts towards the initiative.
