नेपाल सम्वत् ११४५ तछलागाः ५ (असार २, २०८२ ) जून १६, २०२५ ,सोमबार, बाँपीझ्याला । Tensions between Iran and Israel escalated sharply as Iran launched a fresh wave of missile attacks on Israel early Monday, killing at least five people and wounding dozens more. Air raid sirens sounded across the country, including in Tel Aviv and Petah Tikva, where missiles caused significant destruction to residential buildings. One missile also landed near the U.S. consulate, causing minor damage but no American casualties. Iran claimed to have launched over 100 missiles in retaliation for Israeli airstrikes that had previously killed over 220 people in Iran since Friday.
In response, the Israeli military targeted 10 Quds Force command centers in Tehran. Israel's advanced defense systems intercepted many missiles, lighting up the sky with explosions, but some managed to hit civilian areas, leaving a trail of devastation. Among the dead in Israel were elderly civilians, and emergency services continued to search for people trapped in rubble. Survivors like Yoram Suki, whose apartment was destroyed, expressed support for Israel’s military response, calling it necessary for future generations.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has vowed that its next strikes will be more destructive, as Israeli airstrikes have expanded to include oil refineries and government buildings. Iran’s foreign minister indicated that attacks would stop if Israel ceased its offensive, but this was followed by a harder stance from Tehran as the conflict deepened. Meanwhile, health authorities in Iran reported over 1,200 wounded, though human rights groups claim the actual death toll is significantly higher, possibly over 400, including many civilians.
The broader context of the conflict centers on Israel’s efforts to dismantle Iran’s military and nuclear infrastructure, which Israel views as a direct threat. Iran maintains that its nuclear program is peaceful, though it has enriched uranium close to weapons-grade in recent years, raising global concern. The United States and other nations believe Iran hasn’t actively pursued nuclear weapons since 2003, but the current conflict has reignited fears of further escalation in the region and a potential nuclear crisis.
