नेपाल सम्वत् ११४५ बछलागाः १० (जेठ ८, २०८२ ) मे २२, २०२५ ,बिहिबार, बाँपीझ्याला । Four British Army veterans have achieved a groundbreaking feat by completing the fastest ascent from London to the summit of Mount Everest. The climbers—Major Garth Miller, Colonel Alistair Scott Carns, Anthony James Stazicker, and Kevin Francis Godlington—began their journey from London’s Heathrow Airport on May 16 and reached Everest’s summit by 7:15 AM local time on May 21. Organized by Furtenbach Adventures and led by seasoned mountaineer Garth Miller, the expedition is part of the “Everest in Just 7 Days” challenge. Their mission, apart from setting a speed record, also aims to inspire and raise awareness for causes close to the veterans' hearts.
The team was joined by photographer Alexander Gromen Hayes and a group of experienced Sherpa guides, all of whom summited alongside them. Each veteran brought a wealth of military and leadership experience to the climb. Miller is known for holding previous Everest records, while Colonel Carns, recognized with a Distinguished Service Order, currently serves in the Ministry of Defence. Stazicker, now a successful entrepreneur, and Kevin Godlington, a globally deployed former Special Forces soldier, each carried stories of resilience shaped by their military backgrounds.

Their rapid ascent was made possible through rigorous preparation, including pre-acclimatization in hypoxic tents and Xenon gas treatments conducted in Germany prior to the climb. These methods, while controversial, were defended by expedition organizer Lukas Furtenbach as both safe and environmentally responsible. He emphasized that no Xenon was used on Everest itself and argued that shorter expeditions reduce the environmental footprint by limiting waste and resource use. Critics of such methods, Lukas argued, misunderstand their purpose and benefits.
The achievement is being hailed not only as a physical milestone but also as a powerful message about overcoming limits and inspiring others. The team is expected to return to London by May 22, weather permitting. Their story underscores themes of endurance, innovation, and purpose, reflecting the deeper motivations behind their journey. Far more than a record-breaking climb, the expedition highlights a blend of military discipline, cutting-edge preparation, and heartfelt mission, leaving a lasting impression on the mountaineering world and beyond.
