Nepal Samvat 1146, Kachhalaga 3, Tritiya (22 Kartik 2082, Saturday, 8 November 2025, Dolakha) Bhimeshwor Weekly Market, operating under the management of the “Saphal Sahyatri Women’s Group” in Pakhalti, Ward No. 2, Bhimeshwor Municipality, has reached its fourth week of operation today.

Ajay Pradhan, a young entrepreneur and social worker who has been directly participating and assisting in the market management, stated that since the market started on Saturday, Kartik 1, new farmers and new products have been gradually added each week. This has also generated enthusiasm and awareness among local farmers.

He further mentioned that the market is attracting local consumers, hotel owners, and both domestic and foreign tourists visiting Dolakha Bhimeshwor. He emphasized that although it is sometimes challenging to meet consumer demand, efforts must be made to improve the market and fulfill these demands.

Local businesspeople who have been operating here for years have traditionally charged different prices in the morning and evening based on the customer, which has caused some inconvenience. However, according to local consumers, there has been some relief in this regard.

Local farmers, who usually grow crops on land reserved for their own consumption, sometimes bring their produce to the market unexpectedly, causing price fluctuations. It is the responsibility of the local government and all of us to ensure an environment where farmers can bring their produce to the market. Management measures should also be implemented when production is abundant, and consumption starts to decline.

For example, farmers bringing just 10 handfuls of leafy greens now are able to sell them at NPR 15 per handful, whereas a week ago, local businesses in Dolakha had been buying the same greens from stores at NPR 130 per kilogram. This has given local consumers a real opportunity.

Currently, with farmers bringing their produce directly to the market, it is our collective responsibility, as stakeholders and consumers, to encourage and organize them. We request everyone to participate and support the market from their respective roles.
