नेपाल सम्वत् ११४५ चिल्लागाः ९ (१० चैत्र, २०८१) मार्च २३, २०२५ ,आइतबार, बाँपीझ्याला । The Indian Embassy in Kathmandu celebrated the 23rd Golden Jubilee Scholarship Day on Saturday, honoring nearly 200 scholarship recipients. The event was attended by prominent academic leaders, including vice-chancellors from several Nepali universities, deans, and principals. Ambassador Naveen Srivastava awarded the Ambassador’s Golden Jubilee Scholarship Roll of Honour to outstanding scholars and encouraged them to excel in their fields, emphasizing opportunities in India’s startup ecosystem and collaborative initiatives.
Established in 2002 to mark 50 years of India-Nepal economic cooperation, the Golden Jubilee Scholarship program now supports 200 students annually, benefiting over 3,500 Nepali students from all 77 districts. The current batch includes students from 75 districts, with one-third being girls and three differently-abled scholars. India provides approximately 1,500 scholarships yearly to Nepali students in fields like engineering, medicine, management, and performing arts, enabling them to study in India and Nepal. Since 2001, nearly 40,000 Nepali students have benefited from these programs.
The scholarships and capacity-building initiatives are part of India’s efforts to support Nepal’s human resource development, fostering educational cooperation and strengthening people-to-people ties between the two nations. The event highlighted the enduring friendship and shared progress between India and Nepal.
