नेपाल सम्वत् ११४५ प्वहेलाथ्वः ४ ( १९ पुष , २०८१) जनवरी ३, २०२५ , शुक्रबार, बाँपीझ्याला । Renowned Nepali mountaineer Mingma G received a grand welcome at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu today, celebrating his remarkable achievement of conquering the seven summits across seven continents. Climbers, well-wishers, and tourism stakeholders gathered at TIA to honor the legendary climber with garlands and flowers. Born and raised in Rolwaling Valley at an altitude of 4,200 meters, Mingma G completed his seven summit peaks on December 27, 2024. His accomplishments include Everest (8,848m) in Asia six times (2007, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2016, and 2022), Kilimanjaro (5,895m) in Africa in 2019, Elbrus (5,642m) in Europe in 2019 and 2024, Denali (6,190m) in North America in 2024, Carstensz Pyramid (4,884m) in Oceania in 2024, Vinson Massif (4,892m) in Antarctica in 2024, and Aconcagua (6,962m) in South America in 2024. Joining him in completing this feat were his Chinese climbing partners, Zhang Jian and Gu Xuming.

Officials from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Nepal Mountaineering Association, Nepal National Mountain Guide Association, and other organizations warmly welcomed Mingma G at the airport. In October 2024, he became the first Nepali climber to summit all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters without supplemental oxygen. His climbing record includes Everest six times, K2 five times (2014, 2017, 2021, 2022, and 2024), and multiple ascents of other 8,000-meter peaks such as Manaslu, Kanchenjunga, Annapurna, and Nanga Parbat. Mingma G also led the historic first winter ascent of K2 as part of a team of 10 Nepali climbers and made a successful ski expedition to the South Pole in 2024, one of the few Nepalese to achieve this feat.

The legendary climber also holds a record for summiting Manaslu the most times without oxygen. Among his seven ascents of the mountain, four reached the foresummit, while three reached the main summit, including a 2021 ascent with oxygen to open the route. His 2017 summit of Nanga Parbat was the first-ever autumn ascent of the peak. Mingma G, an IFMGA-certified guide, also runs Imagine Nepal Treks Pvt. Ltd., contributing significantly to Nepal’s mountaineering community.

A special event was held at the Aranya Boutique Hotel in the afternoon to felicitate Mingma G. At the gathering, friends, family, and fellow climbers celebrated his unparalleled achievements. “His accomplishments have brought immense pride to Nepal’s mountaineering community,” said Tulsingh Gurung, President of the Nepal National Mountain Guide Association (NNMGA).
