KMG chair Sirohiya flown to Kathmandu for further treatment

Kantipur Media Group Chairman Kailash Sirohiya was transported to Kathmandu for further medical treatment on Tuesday after experiencing heart-related issues. Initially admitted to Kavya Hospital in Janakpur on May 25 due to a headache, high blood pressure, and an irregular heartbeat, Sirohiya was flown to the capital around 3:30 PM and taken to Nepal Mediciti Hospital in Lalitpur. Navin Kumar, a member of the hospital’s board of advisors, stated that Sirohiya is currently in the emergency ward undergoing essential tests, and his condition will be assessed once the results are available.

Sirohiya is also under police custody as part of an investigation following a complaint filed by a cadre of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), associated with Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane. The complaint alleged that the number on Sirohiya’s citizenship certificate was identical to that on another individual’s certificate. As a result, the Dhanusha District Court extended his remand by three days on Monday, with police needing additional time for a forensic test of the signature on his citizenship document.

Previously, the court had extended his remand by three days on Friday. Police arrested Sirohiya on May 21 after Indrajit Mahato, an RSP cadre, filed the initial complaint. The former administrative officer of the Dhanusha District Administration Office has confirmed the authenticity of the signature on the citizenship certificate.

Sirohiya’s medical condition and the ongoing legal investigation are both being closely monitored.
