Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized the importance of developing Nepal into a hub for higher education. Speaking at the ninth Senate of the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences, he highlighted his vision for Nepal to become a destination for advanced studies. The Prime Minister commended the academy for attracting students from outside the country and providing essential health services to the geographically disadvantaged communities in the Karnali and Far Western provinces.
PM Dahal praised the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences for its responsiveness and preparedness during health crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic and earthquakes. He stressed the academy’s role in enhancing the quality and accessibility of healthcare services, urging graduates to be highly competitive and skilled professionals with a strong sense of integrity. Recognizing the academy’s recent progress, he expressed confidence in its ability to foster innovation, research, and invention.
The Prime Minister advised the academy to explore opportunities for medicine production by leveraging natural resources and local heritage. He encouraged proactive measures to address challenges such as infrastructure limitations and a shortage of skilled healthcare professionals. PM Dahal assured support from the government to harness Karnali’s vast potential and improve service delivery.
Acknowledging the concerns of doctors, technicians, and staff at the academy, PM Dahal pledged gradual resolution of their issues. He underscored the government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure deficiencies and enhancing the healthcare workforce to meet the region’s needs effectively.
