In the Prime Minister Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament, Surya Tamang’s exceptional bowling performance guided Bagmati Province to a three-wicket victory over Tribhuvan Army Club. Tamang, who had taken six wickets in the previous match against Madhesh Province, continued his stellar form by claiming five wickets for 26 runs, restricting the Army Club to a mere 97 runs. Pratis GC also made an impact with figures of 2-8 in his 5.1-over spell.
Despite their bowlers’ strong display, Bagmati Province faced challenges in the chase due to inconsistent batting. However, they managed to reach the target, finishing at 103-7 in 22.1 overs. Bagmati’s second consecutive victory has elevated them to fourth place in the ten-team standings, tied on points with the top three teams, Armed Police Force Club, Sudurpaschim Province, and Nepal Police Club. Bagmati, though, has played two additional matches. The top three teams have maintained a perfect start to the tournament.
In another match, Karnali Province secured a 60-run victory over Lumbini Province, posting 184-9 in their innings. Dinesh Adhikari and Dipendra Rawat’s crucial eighth-wicket partnership of 72 runs played a significant role in Karnali’s total. Adhikari contributed an unbeaten 56, while Rawat scored 47. Lumbini’s Nirmal Gurung and Avishek Gautam took three wickets each. Adhikari and Rawat continued their impact in the bowling department, taking two wickets each to limit Lumbini to 124 runs in 41.2 overs, securing Karnali’s second victory in the tournament.
